Info graphic
For our infographic we were required to take an issue in society and create a poster based on what that topic is. My topic, along with Lea Cello and Mariano Carrasquio, was fur coats and the process it takes to make them.
Reflection
For this project, each of our group members had separate jobs: Project Manager, Graphic Artist and Layout Designer. I was the Graphic Designer. Even though each of our group members had our own jobs, we didn't really stick to those boundaries and all ended up stepping into each others domain. I managed to create a bunch of our images on illustrator, but both Lea and Mariano contributed a large amount of images and I managed to help out with the layout and fonts a lot as well. During this project, I got better at gradation as well as free draw. Sometimes, drawing the actual animal becomes too much and you actually have to sit back and improvise what you think should fit in that space. A lot of improvising was done on the little animals that you see above.
My first suggestion to future sophomores is to really do your research, not just on your topic, but also on infographics in general. You don't want your infographic to be boring or dull so look at ones that are interesting and mimic those qualities. Another thing to remember is that there are going to be a lot of layers but NEVER DELETE A LAYER. You may decide later that you really need that image but you deleted it so you have to make it all over again. Another thing that can fall under that same area would be to save frequently. If you don't save, there goes all or a good portion of your work. My final piece of advice is to make sure you are in class. My partners and I were always missing at least one person and for a long time were really behind. We finally managed to finish in the end but only because we really worked hard for it.
Over all, I would think my group deserves around a 40 because even though we weren't here for a lot of the project we did put a lot of hard work and dedication into our infographic and it ended up looking pretty cool. For my own personal grade I would give myself a 40-45 because though I did work hard, I do have to give credit to Lea who actually took the infographic home for a short while and worked on it herself. I am proud of how our project turned out and am excited to see what else multimedia has in store.
